Our Story

Background- The St Baldrick’s foundation, which began in 1999, is the
world's largest volunteer-driven fundraising event for childhood cancer research.
Each year, thousands of volunteers shave their heads in solidarity of children
with cancer, while requesting donations of support from friends and family.
These shavings allow volunteers and donors tosee it can be fun to support
a serious cause, young cancer patients and survivors see how many
people care, and researchers see St. Baldrick's funds helping to find cures.

2006- John Wiseman and Reed Dempsey attended the St. Baldrick’s Foundation
shaving in Black Rock, Connecticut. In two weeks Reed was able to raise $2000
while John was able to collect over $23,500 in donations.

2007- John and Reed felt that for this year it was important to spread the word further, and the best way to do this was to create a sub-team of TeamBrent, Brent’s Warriors. It would be a compilation of Wilton High School Student-Athletes and some other members from the community. The team consisted of: Reed Dempsey, John Wisemen, Jake Alexander, Drew Davala, Ryan Boepple, Kit Landry, Cooper Hollingsworth, Kevin Simon, Sam Fuentes, Joe LaSala, James Fuller, Will Herndon, Charlie Cornbrooks, Josh Witkin, Robert Brady, and George Davala. At the beginning, John set a modest goal for the group of $15,000 all the while expecting a far greater sum. Through a spectacular amount of donations, and the marvelous idea from Drew Davala to have his father shave off his moustache, which had adorned the space above his lip for around 20 years, the team was able to raise a little north of $72,000.

2008- Several members of the 2007 team have come together to create Brent’s Warriors for 2008. For this years event on March 13th, at ‘The Field’ in Black Rock, we are planning to not only collect individual donations as we did last year, but we are also planning a sports memorabilia drawing and possibly a silent auction. We hope to raise $50,000, but with your help, I am sure we can far exceed that goal.
